One Equal World

Adair Lion is taking a stand

Posted on: May 3, 2012

A Texas-based rap artist is taking a stand for equality.  Adair Lion has decided that it’s perfectly okay for a rapper to publicly support LGBT equality.

“It doesn’t just get better, it gets awesome, homie — what I mean is I just wanna see you blossom, homie.”

Those are lyrics off of his newly-released track, “Ben” (also called “Gay is Okay”) off of his Michael Jackson tribute album “Michael & Me.”  With the track comes a new video which is already starting to go viral.

Adair is straight, but he’s found himself upset with how hip-hop fans and members treat the LGBT community.  He hopes that the song will help them be a little more tolerant.

In an epilogue he explains that coincidentally, Ben is the name of his father, who he never met.  “So why would I judge someone who’s trying to be two of what I never had?”
